Author Brad Wagnon at June 15th Gathering

Summer is coming and to kick things off we have a special treat for our Colorado Cherokee Circle Gathering on June 15th, 10 a.m. – 12:00 pm. We have arranged for Cherokee author Brad Wagnon to come speak to us and do a book signing.

Brad Wagnon is Cherokee author and storyteller who lives in Gideon, OK. He has a passion for sharing Cherokee History and Culture with future generations. Brad is a graduate of Tahlequah High School and Northeastern State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Native American Studies. Brad taught Cherokee History, Culture and Language at Tahlequah High School for 10 years and has worked for Cherokee Nation Community and Cultural Outreach since June 2015. Brad’s position as Community Outreach Coordinator put him in contact with Cherokee citizens all over the United States. Brad is a retired Lieutenant on the Gideon Fire Department, where he began as a firefighter in 2005. Brad currently works for the Cherokee Nation as the Emergency Management Community Preparedness Coordinator. He is the author of an assortment children’s books including, “How the World Was Made: A Cherokee Story” “The Land of the Great Turtles” and “The First Fire: A Cherokee Story” . These books are based on traditional Cherokee stories. He and his wife Tanya live on his family’s land in Gideon. His favorite thing to do is spend time with his family. Brad is also an acclaimed bonsai enthusiast who spends much of his free time cultivating and perfecting bonsai trees to create that perfect balance between nature and art.

We will have Brads books available for purchase including his new The Cherokee Syllabary book which has been authorized by the publisher to be available to our group pre-release. We feel privileged and honored that Brad has made time in his very busy schedule to come meet with our At-large community. We are so excited to host Brad!
